How to earn more from fan support with gifting and tipping

Simple gifting and tipping tips for Kenyan creators. Learn how to invite fan support, explain your bio link, and receive gifts through M-Pesa with Tihada.

People who enjoy your content may want to support you. But they need to know how.

Gifting and tipping give your fans a simple way to say thank you and help you keep creating. Whether you make videos, share advice, perform music, or tell stories, a clear invitation can help turn appreciation into financial support.

Here are six ways to make it easier for fans to support your work.

1. Give fans an easy way to send a gift

Choose a way to receive support that your audience understands.

With Tihada, fans can open your link, choose a gift or enter their own amount, and pay through M-Pesa. They can also leave a message.

You don’t need to share your personal payment details publicly. You share your Tihada link.

Don’t just add a link and expect people to know what it’s for. Put a short invitation in your bio, directly above it.

Try:

  • “Support my work 👇”
  • “Enjoy my content? Send me a gift 🎁👇”
  • “Help me keep creating 👇”

This small change tells visitors what they can do when they tap your link.

3. Remind people after content they enjoy

Your fans won’t see every post. A single announcement can easily be missed.

Occasionally mention your gifting link after sharing something helpful or entertaining. You could add this to a caption, say it at the end of a video, or share it in a story:

“If you enjoyed this, you can support my work through the link in my bio. Thank you!”

Keep it friendly and optional. You don’t need to ask in every post.

4. Tell fans what their support helps you do

Give people a simple, honest reason to support your work.

Maybe gifts help you cover filming costs, buy materials, or make more time to create. Be specific when you can:

“Your support helps me cover transport costs so I can keep sharing these stories.”

You don’t need a dramatic appeal. A clear explanation helps fans understand why their support matters.

5. Welcome small gifts and thank supporters

Let people give an amount that works for them. Avoid making anyone feel that their gift is too small.

A simple thank-you can make someone feel appreciated. If you want to share their name or message publicly, ask first.

A gift is voluntary support. It doesn’t include your time, a personal reply, or special access.

6. Pay attention to what works

Notice when gifts arrive. Did you share a particular video? Add a clearer invitation to your bio? Remind fans in a story?

Use what you learn to improve your approach. Keep making content your audience values, and make the invitation to support it easy to find.

Gifting won’t guarantee a steady income, but clear reminders and an easy payment process can help more willing fans take that next step.
